I read a lot of books (Eisenhorn Trilogy, Space Marine Battles, Ciaphas Cain, etc) before actually getting into the Horus Heresy Series. This is Book Nine of the Black Library Horus Heresy series, the second novel of the series by Graham McNeill. And boy - what an excellent choice indeed! I got into Warhammer 40k fiction after playing the games and reading up a bit on their Lexicanum wiki. I gave up on my usual rule of only buying Warhammer 40K omnibuses and started in on the Horus Heresy series.
